Overview: For more than four decades, Barbara Hocher has focused her professional life on the vocal arts—opera, classical song, and orchestral works with featured vocal soloists. She earned a Bachelor of Music degree and a Master of Arts degree in vocal performance, and then studied technique, repertoire, and language in Europe. As a student of voice and then as a professional singer for seventeen years, she performed in opera, recitals, and concerts throughout the United States and in Europe. After earning a Master of Arts degree in arts administration, she began to work with emerging singers and accompanists as well as industry professionals to promote the vocal arts and to counsel young singers preparing for their own professional performance careers. For twenty years she has worked closely with one of the great masters of the vocal arts, Marilyn Horne. Now Ms. Hocher shares her considerable knowledge and experience with singers, devotees of the vocal arts, schools, and arts organizations, offering her unique perspective on and enthusiasm for the repertoire she loves and champions.
